WEDDING DAY | GOWN CARE TIPS

Okay, you have the gown… Now what?

Let’s talk wedding day! All the anticipation has led to this day and it’s finally here! We know that with all the excitement and things happening on your big day, the last thing on your mind is “What should I do with my gown?” We get it! But your gown is important and you’ll want to make sure it is properly taken care of on wedding day. Now on to the nitty gritty, what should you do leading up to the wedding to make sure your gown is ready for you to walk down the aisle?

Let’s get into it!

Here are 3 of our most useful tips to make sure your gown is ready to WOW your guests!

As soon as you have access to your venue, take your dress out of the bag and hang it up somewhere! Your dress has a train loop (typically on the lining layer of your train) that holds up the train to keep it off the ground and protect it from anything happening to it while in storage. While this is a great thing to have, it’s important to take the train down as soon as you can day of! When the train is put up, it will start to leave creases/wrinkles on your train, so hanging your dress up outside of its bag is a great way to avoid any stubborn wrinkles!

Assign a designated steamer. We know that day of, there’s so much going on so it’s hard to stop and think about the little things that need to be done before you can walk down the aisle. We recommend assigning a designated person to steam the dresses on your wedding day! Whether this be a bridesmaid, your mom, or whomever you have available, this will help the day flow so much smoother if you already have a designated steamer! When you leave our shop with your gown, we will put a fresh steam on it, but a quick touch-up on wedding day might be necessary to get out any wrinkles that may have happened when it was in it’s protective bag!

Have an emergency bag with bobby pins, a crochet hook (if needed) and a needle and thread! Our alterations specialists are truly amazing and take such good care of every gown that comes their way, but sometimes things happen that are out of our control. So just in case something happens on wedding day, we recommend keeping some needle and thread handy! If you have buttons on your gown that need to be buttoned, a crochet hook makes the process SO much easier! Keep one handy so you can get dressed in your gown in no time! If you can’t find a crochet hook, a bobby pin works just as well!

We truly hope that your big day is everything you imagined it to be. Remember to soak in as much of it as you can, and simply enjoy being a bride while you can!
